...which can be more difficult than one may think. The photo shown here was taken about a minute after the lower limb of the sun cleared the horizon. The photo was taken at f6.4 as it was still relatively dark and higher f ratios were not giving as much detail. The worrying part of using a faster f stop was having the image blow out completely because of the sheer brightness of the sun. The shutter speed was 1/950th of a second, any slower tended to blow out and any higher lost detail. It was one of the more difficult shots I have attempted when trying to get an interesting early morning sunrise. At the end of the day I am reasonably pleased with the final result.
